What is SmartLipo™?

SmartLipo™ Laser Lipolysis or Laser Body Sculpting is a new technique, approved by the FDA, for the treatment of fat deposits almost anywhere there is fat on the body (essentially everywhere). Smartlipo utilizes a laser through a small needle or cannula. SmartLipo is a remarkable method for removing unwanted body fat through a low-pain, highly efficient process. SmartLipo utilizes smaller instruments and specialized technology to zap fat cells for contouring and reshaping areas of the body including the abdomen, love handles, backs, thighs, hips, knees, arms, neck, and chin. Smart Lipo is an excellent technique for removal of fat from difficult areas of the body. It is more efficient at removing fat from localized pockets which have proven resistant to conventional liposuction or exercise.

The laser disrupts the fat cells reducing the unwanted fat deposits. The laser energy is also transmitted to the overlying skin resulting in tightening of the skin. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia; is minimally invasive due to the size of the small cannula. This produces a much faster recovery time with significantly less bruising than traditional liposuction alone.

Dr. Decorato has extensive experience with Smartlipo as one of the earliest adopters of the technology in the United States. He regularly teaches and trains other doctors in the proper application and technique for the utilization of Smartlipo in their practices. Dr. Decorato is a member of the Cynosure Center of Excellence and is a clinical consultant for the company.
